Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I’m getting offers for unlimited calling plans. Are these my best/cheapest choice?

A. Not necessarily. They could cost you more than you are now paying unless you have enough usage to cover the monthly fixed rate.

Q
. I’m paying a lot for calls overseas. Is there anything I can do about that?

A. Sure. Calls to some countries now cost as little as 4 cents/minute. Ask us to quote you rates to the countries you call regularly.

Q
. So many telecom carriers have been having financial problems. How can I know whether it’s safe to do business with any of them?

A. Let us advise you. Because of our relationships with all the carriers, we have much more information than the public sees in the media. It’s in our interest to recommend carriers that are reliable—otherwise you won’t remain our customer.

Q
. All the new area codes are confusing my customers. Some of my phone lines are in one area code, but others in a totally different one. Is there some way to have all my phone numbers with the same area code?

A. Yes. If you purchase a certain type of high-speed circuit, you can reserve a block of telephone numbers which remain yours indefinitely. Then, whenever you need more numbers, they will all have the same area code.

Q
. If I sign a contract for long distance, will my rate remain the same for the duration of the contract?

A. Not necessarily. The contracts of many carriers provide for rate increases whenever the carriers change their tariffs. But NBC Solutions can recommend carriers that do guarantee their rates for the life of their contracts..

Q
. I have many locations and the constant calls among them are really hurting my bottom line. What can I do to contain these costs?

A. One solution might be Frame Relay which connects many locations and handles voice and data, at manageable cost.

Q
. I’ve heard about DSL service, but for some reason I can’t get it. Why not?

A. DSL service can only be provided to customers located close to a central office. If you are further away than the maximum, you can’t have DSL. Fortunately, there are better alternatives anyway. Ask us about them.
